ABC is Making a New ‘Bachelor’ for Seniors

News & Blog

Get your TV set up and your popcorn ready, because a new dating show is coming to ABC network:

A dating show for seniors!

The new show is rumored to be based off of the long running reality television series The Bachelor, where a single bachelor chooses from a selection of romantic interests until true love is found.

In fact, this new show is from the same producers as The Bachelor.
The only question is: how similar will the show actually be?

ABC is currently seeking seniors looking for love.

The network has not put out an official release date yet, but the show is definitely in the works.

During a recent episode of The Bachelor, ABC announced the casting call for seniors. Since then, the producers have specified they are looking for seniors 65 and up, “active and outgoing single men and women in their golden years.”

Calling all seniors to apply and try out for the upcoming show.

The best part of all this is that any senior can tryout!

Applicants are required to fill out a 70-question form, many of which are basic profile questions and 5 of which are photo attachments.

While most of the questions are factual (how tall you are, what color your hair is, were you ever married), some questions are a bit more creative:
– Are you genuinely looking for love and why?
– Why would you want to find love on TV?
– Do you have a bucket list? If so, what’s on it?
– Why would you be a great fit for this show?

The only question is: how similar to The Bachelor can the show actually be?

When you think of The Bachelor, some of the things that come to mind are the thrilling dates and more-than-dramatic cat fights.

But, that doesn’t quite seem to fit with the idea of “age 65 and up.”

It’s hard to imagine what exactly the producers have in mind for the show’s main entertainment and events. But if the show is anything like its predecessors (series, spin-offs, and all)- it’s sure to be a great watch.

The new show for seniors couldn’t have come at a better time.

By the time the show airs, mandated social distancing will probably be over.
But, many seniors may still want to err on the side of caution, and keep much of their activities home based. Unfortunately, that could mean not much more than video chats and gardening to keep them busy.

ABC is giving seniors something they can watch from the comfort of their own homes, as well as something they can actually relate to. So much of television now a days is about the younger generations. Just think about the Bachelor itself.

But now, seniors can watch people who are just like them, venturing out to find real, committed love.

What could be more relatable?

So, get your game day snacks ready.
And, may the best seniors find true love!
